St Vincent’s have been busy gathering together in prayer, telling their stories and sharing the pride and joy of being able to identify as past, current or even prospective members of their great college community.

Events have been organised by the Student Leadership team, with official birthday celebrations on Tuesday, May 1, an important part of a year long program of events designed to allow their current and past students, staff and parents to join in.

In recognition of the important role that boarding programs and students has always played at St Vincent’s, the celebrations are also going “on the road” and will be visiting Mudgee, Dubbo, Bourke, Wagga, Griffith, Tamworth and Narrabri.

As a leading independent girls’ school, boarding forms a vital part of life at Wenona. The school offers a rich co-curricular and extra-curricular program, and given its close proximity to the city, boarders are encouraged to take full advantage of as many different opportunities as their individual schedule will allow.

Head of Borading at Wenona, Mrs Nonie Ayling, says there is no fixed formula for the number and type of activities that each girl can do to help further themselves and their education.

“We understand that each girl is an individual with different talents and interests, but everyone is encouraged and supported to 'have a go' and get involved with anything that they are passionate about,” she said.

Wenona border, Paige Sedgwick, has taken advantage of the opportunities that Wenona have to offer. She’s taken up new sports, is an active member of the Amnesty, Environment and Gender Equity Clubs, and is also a regular fixture at the Wenona Car Restoration Club. “It sounds like I do a lot, but the Boarding staff really help me to balance my study with other activities,” Paige said.

The Boarding House staff are committed to helping each girl strike a successful balance between academic and co-curricular activity.
