Daktel Australia Pty Ltd has officially launched its home phone alternative under the myhomefoneTM brand. myhomefoneTM is a familiar looking cordless phone that runs on Telstra’s mobile network. The phone allows seniors to keep their existing phone number (and take it with them if moving home or interstate) and also avoid the upheaval of an unnecessary and stressful nbnTM installation.
“Our research has shown that a huge proportion of our senior population don’t use the internet, and don’t want it. Being told that they must install the nbnTM and change lifelong habits is highly stressful, and an unfair burden to place on those who’ve given our country so much”, says David Sweet, CEO of Daktel Australia.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald (15/3/18), one in three households that moved onto the nbnTM network in the past 12 months was left without a home phone or an internet connection. And a third of households who connected within the year had made a complaint to their NBN service provider, with half unresolved at the time of the survey.
Sweet goes on to say, “that’s why we developed a simple home phone solution that looks and feels like the phone they use now, with affordable calling plans included.”
Unlike nbnTM services, myhomefoneTM has battery back-up for power blackouts, which is critical for those who rely upon their home phone as the only contact to the outside world. Additionally, the myhomefoneTM service also includes an optional “SOS” function. Perfect for those who may be prone to falls or accidents, it can either be professionally monitored for $22 per month, or self-monitored by family, friends or a carer.
“Australian seniors and small businesses shouldn’t be forced into a deal that they don’t need, on a network that they can’t always rely on”, says Sweet.
myhomefoneTM solves these issues and offers plans to match customers’ usage levels, in a package that will suit seniors countrywide.
