But the UK-native has loved every minute of preparing for the Stars of Dubbo Dance for Cancer, saying it’s been great to get involved in the community.
It’s also been a “bridge” home to the UK, where her father was recently diagnosed with bowel and prostate cancer.
“We all know somebody that’s been touched by cancer, and for me it was my uncle and a close school friend that both passed away in the last two years,” Ms Brennan said.
“Another friend from school also has stage four ovarian cancer, and my dad was actually just diagnosed two weeks ago.
“They’re really far away but … [Dad] is proud of me for doing it … it’s one of the highlights of his day, seeing the little videos that we’ve done.”
Ms Brennan has been rehearsing since late February, with Urban Edge Dance Studios’ Paris Burns and “the coolest dude I’ve ever met”, Ngali Shaw.
“He makes me feel very old, although he did actually call me cool the other day and I’m still living on that moment!” she laughed.
Ms Brennan’s comedy routine lets her tick ‘learn a dance’ off her bucket list, and sons Riley and Herbie are on board.
“I practice at home and they start dancing with me,” Ms Brennan said. “Riley has been to a couple of the rehearsals with me. Watching me dance, he thinks I’m awesome, which is great!”
Saturday’s main event will include a silent auction, with a signed 2018 Bulldogs jersey to go under the hammer.
Ms Brennan said it would be an “interesting” but “nerve-wracking” evening, and urged people to “put your hands in your pockets!”
“It doesn't really matter how much you give,” she said. “Whether it’s a dollar, $10, $100, whatever you can give … it’s really just about all of us doing the best we can.
“I’m hoping I don’t fall over my own feet, but I’m sure Ngali will pick me up if I do!”
The Stars of Dubbo Dance for Cancer will be held on Saturday, May 5. Follow all the Stars’ progress at www.everydayhero.com.au/event/starsofdubbo2018
