The official groups, comprised of community members, will be replaced with informal advisory panels. The panels will provide their view on issues before they go to a council meeting.
The working parties to be discontinued are: Saleyards Advisory Committee, Dubbo Showground Advisory Committee, Geographical Names Ad Hoc Committee, Dubbo Community Awards and Events Committee, Rainbow Cottage Child Care Centre Committee, Sister Cities Advisory Committee, Aquatic Leisure Centres Working Party, Rural Consultative Working Party, Economic Development Advisory Committee, Heavy Vehicle Access Advisory Group, Cultural Facilities Committee and Tourism, Business and Visitor Experiences Committee.
Mayor Ben Shields said the change was part of council’s plan to be more productive and streamline processes.
Former members of the advisory committees would be invited to join the panels, Cr Shields said.
