To celebrate the 145^th anniversary of the Dubbo Show, entrants from around the region have been busy preparing sheep and cattle, growing delicious vegetables, and finishing off impressive artworks ready to see if they can take home the title of show champion.

The committee has been working hard over the past 12 months to ensure that there is something on offer for everyone, young and old.

The program of non-stop entertainment will kick off on Friday featuring harness racing, the speed shear competition and live music from Red Rebel Music including Paul Costa, Brew and crowd favourite Tanya Kernaghan.

Saturday the fun-filled activities continue with street entertainment, puppet shows, Pooka the Clown and more delighting families all day. The busking competition promises to not only provide great music but also perhaps unearth a new star in the making, while the D-Max utes will wow the crowd with the amazing display of precision driving and stunts. 

The show will charge on through the night with the Easybeats tribute show performing some great Aussie Rock classics, while the 2DU/ Zoo FM fireworks display will light up the skies.

Of course rural favourites such as the shearing competition, show jumping, yard dog trials and ring events will be held continually over the three days.

With over 20,000 people expected to visit the show across the weekend, many will be there for the rides, snacks and wide variety of show bags on offer. 

The younger crowd will have favourites such as jumping castles and slides, the cup and saucers and the ever popular dodgem cars providing hours of entertainment. For those who are a bit older or looking for more of a thrill, rides like the Cha Cha, Rockstar and the Freestyle promise a wild, fun-filled ride.

Of course one of the more popular events at the show, the FM Dubbo Showgirl competition will be back to provide young women the opportunity to become rural ambassadors for their local community.

Local showgirl winners have the chance to represent themselves and their region at zone and possibly stats finals at the Royal Sydney Show. Entrants have the chance approximately $3000 in prizes and become the face of the Dubbo Show. 

Last year’s winner, Rose Broughton, said the showgirl competition was an invaluable experience. “It allows young women to educate and bring awareness to the challenges that are affecting our rural areas,” she said.
