The seven-race non-TAB meeting attracted strong numbers with plenty of local hopes taking on big names from all over the region.
One of those travelling to Forbes is Dubbo trainer Brett Pay, who has Sunscreen in the day’s main event, the Forbes RSL Sub-Branch Diggers Cup (2060m).
Sunscreen is second-up from a spell, having finished eighth in his return at Dubbo Paceway earlier this month.
Brett’s nephew, Tom, will again take the drive.
The Pay team faces a stern test in the feature with the entire meeting expected to be dominated by the powerful Bathurst stables and Amanda Turnbull, Bernie Hewitt and Mat Rue.
Our Wall Street Wolf (Amanda Turnbull), and Lucy Lamb (Mat Rue) will be the favourite runners in the Diggers Cup but Sunscreen will be there, along with hometown hope Karinya Mully.
Karinya Mully is in career best form for trainer Gary Eyre and with in-form reinswoman Amy Rees taking the drive from gate one, the gelding will have an advantage from that inside draw.
Karinya Mully has scored impressive wins at West Wyalong and Parkes at his last two starts.
The meeting also features memorial event in honour of Neville Pellow, Les Findlay, Clarrie and Val Robb, Pud Woods and Colin White.
Racing commences at 1pm and there will be an Anzac service after Race 3.
