When the Daily Liberal spoke to tour promoter Duane McDonald he had just wrapped up the only international Red Hot Summer Tour show in Bali.
The Dubbo leg of the tour will be the final show for 2018.
“These shows are built for crowds of 3000 to 4000 people. They’re more intimate,” Mr McDonald said.
Headlining the Dubbo show is Australian rock royalty, ICEHOUSE, with special guests Shannon Noll, Baby Animals, Mark Seymour, The Black Sorrows with Vika and Linda, Pseudo Echo and Boom Crash Opera.
“ICEHOUSE are fantastic.. they’re amazing. Once they get going you seem to know every song,” Mr McDonald said.
“There will be 7 acts on the lineup which is the first time we’ve gone that far with acts.”
Mr McDonald said he had been speaking to Pam and Peter Scott at Lazy River Estate and has been told everything was looking great for Saturday’s show.
“It’s been dry.. but they’re getting the lawns lush and green,” he said.
In late 2015 it was announced that Dubbo was named as one of the 15 locations across the country to host the 2016 Red Hot Summer Tour. The City has hosted the event ever since and Mr McDonald said Dubbo will be considered next year.
“We’ll have a look at the end (of the tour). There are towns everywhere vying each year (to host the Red Hot Summer Tour). And we’ll certainly have a look at Dubbo again for 2019,” he said.
“It’s a popular venue (Lazy River Estate).. Pam and Peter have done a beautiful job.”
Mr McDonald said there are still tickets left for the Dubbo show.
Buses will be running to and from the venue to the City. Visit www.redhotsummertour.com.au.
