Nyngan’s Walsh won last year but this year’s title came with a different partner as he teamed up with Thompson of Gulgong.
The pair were outsiders at the start of the tournament but a stunning semi-final win over favourites Jono Davis, who won the singles earlier in the week, and Logan Fraser showed they were genuine contenders.
The final, against Lachlan Thompson and Tom Rich, was an enthralling and entertaining affair as the sides went end-for-end.
The result wasn’t certain until the very final bowl but it was Walsh and Thompson who celebrated, winning 15-12.
Eighteen teams took part in the pairs event with players from 16 clubs ranging from eight to 17 years of age.
The winners advance to the state finals in July.
