Health Infrastructure has made plans to preserve his legacy after consulting with relatives, nurses who worked with him and hospital staff.
Its spokeswoman said the plans included the naming of the medical library in the Ian Locke Building after George Hatch and the erection of two wall graphics on his life in the building.
A photographic archival record and measured drawings of the George Hatch building will also honour the first man to graduate from the NSW College of Nursing.
The George Hatch Building is making way for the drop-off zone of a new three-storey clinical building.
The spokeswoman said plans were afoot to install “historical alignment markers of the George Hatch building’s footprint in-situ using bricks and sandstone”.
An interpretative brass sign that outlines the history of the building will be located near the alignment markers.
