It may only be pre-season but there’s no doubt Macquarie’s win at Nyngan’s Larkin Oval fortress last weekend would have made some in Group 11 circles sit up and take note.

The new-look Raiders, headed by young coach Dylan Hill, downed the Tigers 28-22 last weekend.
On Saturday, the Raiders play host to Narromine in the final round of official Group 11 trials before the season proper starts on the final weekend of this month.
Elsewhere this weekend, a bumper crowd is expected at Wellington’s Kennard Park as the Cowboys play host to the Forbes Magpies while Parkes takes on Westside at Jock Colley Field.
The final match, CYMS against Nyngan, has been cancelled due to the Fishies’ involvement in the Challenge Cup on Saturday.
For Macquarie, the weekend’s match at No. 1 Oval offers the chance to build momentum before the season proper.
Narromine showed patches of real promise before being beaten by CYMS last weekend but much is expected of the new-look Jets, led by Wes Middleton and featuring Tyrone Walsh and Travis Lowe in the halves.
Macquarie shot out of the blocks at Nyngan and led 16-4 at half time before producing a tough second half effort to record the win.
Making the win more pleasing for Hill was the fact a number of players, including off-season recruit Bobby-Jo Gordon, missed the match at Larkin Oval.
The Raiders also received a boost this week when Sam Coe and Colt Tairua, two other recruits, were selected for the Group 11 representative side to take on Group 10 on April 21.
Matches will be played in all four grades at No. 1 Oval with the league tag kicking it all off from 12pm.
