He missed out on a start in the Country Championships this year but the 2019 series is one of the options in front of Dubbo trainer Darren Hyde after Westlink scored another eye-catching win at Wellington on Sunday.

Westlink flashed home through the middle of the track in the final 200m of the One Stop Autmotive Class 1 Showcase Handicap (1100m), making it two wins from five starts.
“I was a bit worred about 400m from home and he was a little bit tardy away today, which was a bit of a concern,” Hyde said after the win.
“It’s only a short straight but once he got in the clear he knuckled down and hit the line and did really well.”
The win was part of a treble for Jeff Penza, who only picked up the ride for Hyde following Andrew Banks’ injury on Saturday.
As Hyde alluded to, Westlink ($4.60) wasn’t one of the best away in Sunday’s race, with See Me Rock ($5.50) and Bring A Beer Along ($10) setting the pace up front while the eventual winner sat midfield. See Me Rock led the field into the bend while Barry Molloy’s Flux Capacitor ($20) searched for a gap and Westlink was seemingly out of the running.
Rawson Crossing ($16) made a move and Westlink followed before soon launching past the Bob Howe-trained four-year-old and going on to record an eye-catching victory.
“He won on (Country) Championships day (at Dubbo) and we got a double that day and this bloke is ticking all the boxes and hopefully is a nice bush horse,” Hyde said, before speaking about his options.
“Winter’s coming up and we’ll have a think about things but we might take him up to Brisbane for a couple of runs or put him in the paddock and crack the Championships next year.”
The win was the second of Westlink’s career after he previously had one placing from his first three starts.
Rawson Crossing got second on Sunday, ahead of See Me Rock.
