And if that’s not cause for celebration, then his achievement of being the first man to win a medal at summer and winter Paralympics certainly is.
Six years ago in London, the man from Nundah, Queensland, collected bronze for his 200m category on the track.
Then he turned his attention to the winter Paralympics in 2015 when his upper limb impairment class had been added to the snowboard program for South Korea.
Patmore edged out Italian Manuel Pozzerle to take snowboard gold at the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics.
Patmore has Erb’s palsy – paralysis of the arm caused by injury to the upper group of the arm’s main nerves.
Australia’s Ben Tudhope missed out on a snowboard cross medal but has the banked slalom still to come in his program.
The other Aussie in the field, Sean Pollard, missed out on a place in the quarter-finals bgy a meagre 0.13 seconds.
