Turns out she was capable of winning the semi-final for a $10,000 feature race at Bathurst’s Kennerson Park.

Trained by Dubbo’s Charmaine Roberts, Give Us Peace ($1.60) recorded her fifth win from her past six starts.

In this race alone Give Us Peace won prizemoney equivalent to 17 times the amount she was purchased for.

Roberts played down the two and a half length semi-final victory but said she continues to be impressed by the improving bitch.

“She’s not really strong so she's lucky that the dogs who are strong were checked and she could scoot away a little bit,” she said.

“She sometimes gets a bit tired so hopefully we draw a good box for the final. She might be able to catch them napping.

“She’s been consistent the whole way through and she’s matured in her mannerisms a lot. 

“There’s about seven of them involved with her. Four or five of them work at the juvenile justice centre and they’re over the moon with her.”

Give Us Peace got away strongly from box three and the only runner to go with her over the opening straight was outside starter Black Jillak.

In a lucky break for Roberts’ runner, Zipping Floyd ($4.80) – the next best-backed runner in the race – got out sluggishly from the boxes and was checked on the opening turn.

Black Jillak started to slip away from Give Us Peace over the back straight.

Luminescence and Elmagordo both moved up the inside of Black Jillak as the final turn approached.

The duo slowly ate into the sizeable five length margin Give Us Peace had built up.

Even though Give Us Peace started to slow up over the final 100m there was no catching her as she held on to win in a time of 30.08 seconds ahead of Elmagordo ($23.60).

The fastest run over the three heats belonged to Sky Wave.

Her time of 29.79 extended the unbeaten start to her career out to six starts.
