Police are yet to confirm the identity of a truck driver killed in a single-vehicle rollover near Tooraweenah on Saturday, but they have confirmed that he lives interstate.
The 34-year-old died when the B-double prime mover he was driving veered to the incorrect side of the Newell Highway and travelled down an embankment into a paddock shortly before 2.30pm.
At the time the vehicle was heading in a southerly direction towards Gilgandra.
Traffic along the highway was disrupted for several hours as police started their investigation into the cause of the accident and the wreckage was removed from the scene.
“Our investigations are continuing but we are examining whether the weather and road conditions at the time may have been a factor because we did get a heavy downpour of rain on Saturday,” Orana Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Dan Skelly said.
“At this stage we can’t reveal any other details other than to say the driver wasn’t from around our local region and we believe he was from interstate.”
