A message from Chief Executive Officer Rene Wykes.
Western College Alesco Learning Centre is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that contributes to the well-being of the community.
We create and implement opportunities for lifelong learning and vocational education, and the development of educational pathways and services for members of the community
Our school program focuses on providing young people with an opportunity for successful educational outcomes that move away from a traditional learning environment.
This environment allows students to find success in a supportive environment that focuses on the individual student and how they best learn, as every student is different in some way.
At Western College Alesco Learning Centre we endeavour to teach, interact and respond to these differences ensuring each and every student feels comfortable and is set up for effective self improvement and educational success.
Western College Alesco Learning Centre is a school that provides education to Stage 5 students (Year 9 and Year 10).
The critical award or goal for these students is the Record of School Achievement (RoSA) which can be awarded at the end of Year 10.
As our student’s time in Year 10 draws to a close, the staff at Western College Alesco Learning Centre work with students to develop an individual transition program into the next stage of education or work.
It is the Western College Alesco Learning Centre’s goal to transition every student into an activity prior to the end of Year 10 to provide them reassurance and confidence when leaving the community of the school.

We have an extensive list of contacts for education and work options post Year 10 and these include senior school, tertiary education, apprenticeships and traineeships, along with numerous potential local and out of town employers.
Students can utilise these contacts to form an idea of possible future educational and career pathways.
We offer a NSW Educations Standards Authority (NESA) curriculum based mostly on core courses. To supplement the core courses an additional two practical subjects are to be chosen based on the list of electives listed by NESA.
- Maths
- English
- Science
- HSIE
- PDHPE
- Technology-based Courses
- Work Education
The college continues to grow and diversify to address the community’s need to find alternatives for those who are disengaged with traditional education forums.
