The national award reflects the work of Raisa Carter, an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine herbalist, who runs the Dubbo business with her chiropractor husband Adam.
Twelve finalists were selected in the category of clinic of the year, one of several awards handed out at the ceremony in Sydney.
Mrs Carter was “speechless and almost in tears” when accepting the award. “It’s really a big deal for a practitioner who gives 100 per cent of herself to help others who are not well,” she said.
Mrs Carter obtained two master’s degrees in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine while raising three children under the age of five. Her current clients come from across the region including Broken Hill.
“I often say to my husband ‘I will never retire’,” Mrs Carter said. “Helping an unwell person and changing their life so they are happy and healthy again is my passion.”
