A video taken in Orange may just prove it.
While crocodiles, box jellyfish and the most lethal breeds of snakes get most of the fearful ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’, outside of Taronga Western Plains Zoo the Central West doesn’t have too much that goes bump in the night.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t creatures in and around Orange who can’t give you a scare or worse.
There were two menacing little examples in close proximity at Duntryleague Golf Course on Saturday afternoon, but thankfully, the sizable hornet and the even bigger spider it was dragging around were too preoccupied with each other to inflict any damage on passers-by.
In something of a surprise, it was the wasp who prevailed in the death match, last seen dragging the lifeless arachnid’s body across the fifth fairway.
