Three rounds into the season and RSL-Colts is without a win.
It seems hard to believe.
The dominant force in the competition during the last decade, RSL-Colts have struggled to produce consistent displays so far this summer and currently sit a huge 20 points behind leaders Rugby already and 11 points behind third-placed Newtown.
The only side sitting below Colts, and the only side without a win this season, is CYMS and that’s who the men in red meet at No. 3 Oval on Saturday.
CYMS have suffered two losses and a rain-affected draw with South Dubbo but sit below Colts due to the fact they were outrighted in the opening round.
The two meet in a one-day contest with Colts boosted by the fact there is no representative cricket this weekend.
That means the defending premiers feature an imposing lineup that includes skipper Greg Buckley, fellow Englishman Darrel Williams, Marty Jeffrey, Wes Giddings, Ben Semmler, Jason Ryan, Chris Morton and young tearaway Tom Atlee.
The final match of the round will be played at No. 2 Oval with Rugby taking on Newtown.
Rugby was dealt a heavy loss by Macquarie last week but remain in top spot while the Tigers stunned Colts.
The table-toppers will be keen to return to form and maintain the lead or risk falling back into the top three battle.
Captain Nathan Munro found form with the bat last week and while Jordan Moran is out injured the likes of James O’Brien, Aidan Bennewith and Ben Patterson ensure there’s still plenty of power in the lineup.
Newtown had a consistent bowling performance and some hard-hitting from Wayne Dunlop to thank last week and will be keen to continue winning before the return of injured all-rounder Steve Skinner later this year.
Games start 1pm.
