Umbrellas and the undercover areas played a key role in the fashions, with showers hitting the Dubbo Turf Club on and off during the afternoon.
The second race of the meeting saw an ambulance on the field and jockey Michale Travers taken to hospital after a fall.
Reports that he was okay and recovering and all the horses were fine came during the day.
Dubbo Turf Club general manager Vince Gordon said while the weather wasn’t to their liking it had been a great day.
“It’s still been a really good party day and everyone’s having a great time.
“...it’s having a good time and the racing’s been good, the track’s performing very very well and the place has presented like a picture, so happy days.”
Daily Liberal photographer Paige Williams was at the track to take photos for the Derby Day Hot 100 competition, with a $100 voucher from Kings Hall Jewellers up for grabs by the best dressed male and female.
