The boy from the bush will be performing at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Friday, October 20, along with his band and country music singer Chelsea Basham.
“Tickets are selling great, which is amazing and I can’t wait to bring the show back out here,” he told the Daily Liberal.
Jason’s latest tour coincides with newest album Jason Owen Sings John Denver: the 20th Anniversary.
When Jason auditioned for the X Factor in 2012, he sang a John Denver song, which not only saw him get into the competition, but that song lead him all the way to the end where he was named runner-up.
“I grew up in Albert.. and everyone loved John Denver’s music,” he said.
“I spent a lot of time with my Grandad, and that’s what he listened to, John Denver, so for me that’s always stuck.”
But the point of difference to this tribute show is that Jason won’t be dressing up as the legendary singer, more so paying homage to him through the songs.
Although no stranger to Dubbo or the central west, this will be Jason’s first time playing at the DRTCC and he said he was really looking forward to it.
“I can’t wait to play there for my first time. I haven’t played many theatre’s. And this show is a threatre show so it’s going to be beautiful. I can’t wait to play at such an amazing venues,” he said.
