In fact, Friday was forecast to be the nation’s hottest September day on record.
While temperatures in some places, including Dubbo, are expected to rise on Saturday, overall across the country the thermometer is at levels never seen before at this time of the year.
And of course when the mercury rises, so too does the risk of bushfires.
The current warm spell of weather comes on the back of a ridiculously dry winter, meaning the moisture levels in grass and other foliage is lacking its usual moisture content.
As a result, the Bureau of Meteorology has released a video outlining its concerns as temperatures soar towards the 40s over the weekend.
