Ten great Australian acts from the 1980s performed for a large crowd on a perfect spring day, headlined arguably by the ever-popular John Paul Young, who proved that is certainly not yesterday’s hero as he belted out some of his greatest hits.
Best known for the song made famous in the timeless 1992 film Strictly Ballroom, JPY was joined by such artists as Wendy Matthews, Chocolate Starfish, Dragon and the Eurogliders for the concert.
Also performing was 1927, who dominated the Australian charts in the late 1980s with songs such as “If I Could”, “That’s When I Think Of You” and “Compulsory Hero”.
Proving that good music can be passed down through the generartions, fans of all ages flocked to the event and were able to sing along, once again making great use of the large outdoor facility on offer at Lazy River.
