About 260 people are taking part in the three-day triples competition, which wraps up on Thursday.
“We’ve had two days of bowls so far and there’s some finals being played now at both Club Dubbo and Sporties,” organiser Eric Chamberlain said.
“It’s been good. We get a fair range, and all grades so the standard has been good.
“They’re from all states: Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, NSW, and there are a few Tasmanians here too.”
Team competed in five rounds across 14 sections, with the winner of each section plus the two best scores progressing to the finals.
The finals began on Wednesday afternoon, with the top 16 teams playing for a spot in the quarter-finals.
“It’s the camaraderie and the friendship amongst all the players [that makes it popular],” Chamberlain said.
“When I put out the invitations, it only took two months to fill up and we had to knock a lot of teams back.
“There’s quite a few teams who have turned up for all those 10 years. We see new ones every year as well as the old ones.”
Play will resume at 8.30am on Thursday with the top eight teams competing in quarter-finals, semi-finals and then the final.
The final is set to wrap up about 5pm, followed by a presentation.
Teams that did not progress to the finals will take part in a new competition throughout Thursday.
