Kites for Kids: Fun day highlights need to act| Photos

Hundreds of decorated kites filled the sky with the annual Kites for Kids on Sunday.

About 400 kites were made in preparation for the event which aims to highlight the need for early intervention when developmental problems arise.

Facilitator Lorna Brennan said the event, which has been held in Dubbo for the past 21 years, had become a staple in the community with families looking forward to the kite flying.

There was also Zumba, face painting and a jumping castle to keep the children entertained.

Services such as Orana Early Intervention, Uniting and TAFE were on hand to also provide information about the organisations available locally to assist families. Ms Brennan said acting early on an issue made a huge impact in a child’s life.
