Last week marked the release of Jason’s hugely anticipated fourth album, Jason Owen Sings John Denver: the 20th Anniversary.
Jason will be hitting the road in October for a run of shows, and will include a return to Dubbo on Friday, October 20 where he will perform at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
”I’m really looking forward to coming back out to Dubbo. It’ll be my first time playing at the DRTCC,” Jason said.
Originally from Albert, 150km west of Dubbo, Jason is now living on the central coast, but says he likes to get back home every two or three weeks.
As a child growing up in Albert with a population of just 15 back then, Jason said he would spend time with his grandfather and older family members, who would listen to a lot of country music, which was how he was first introduced to singer John Denver.
So it was only fitting to sing a John Denver song when Jason auditioned for the X Factor in 2012, which not only propelled him to become a contestant on the show but has since launched his musical career.
He said this tour wasn’t in any way a tribute show, but a performance of him singing John Denver songs.
“I won’t be dressing up or anything like that…. I’ll also be performing about 5 or 6 of my own songs,” he said.
Jason said he loves hitting the road to tour and perform.Special guest Chelsea Basham will also be coming along for the tour. For more details visit www.drtcc.com.au
