The commission started an information campaign on Monday for the elections. Only 46 of 128 NSW councils will hold elections. The 46 councils were either subject to mergers last year, are still facing amalgamations or fighting them.
The commission said messages will appear in the press and on radio and digital platforms across NSW from Monday and will run until election day on Saturday, September 9.
“The first phase of the campaign urges voters to check and update their enrolment details, or enrol for the first time,” said NSW Electoral Commissioner, John Schmidt.
Nominations for councillor and mayor open on July 31 and will close at noon on August 9. To see if your council is having an election and to check or update your enrolment details visit: www.votensw.info or call 1300 135 736.
