Dubbo plays host to Menai High School on Wednesday with the winner going on to meet South Coast champions Figtree High in the final eight.
The match poses as a huge test for Dubbo College, which claimed the title of Western Area champions after brushing aside Lithgow High 5-0 in the final last month.
But since then the side has had to settle for back-to-back draws against both Orange and Bathurst in the Astley Cup.
The side played an exciting brand of football in the win over Lithgow but execution in front of goal was lacking somewhat in the Astley Cup matches.
The side will be out to correct that on Wednesday against Menai, the champions of Sydney east.
With there just 16 teams left in the competition the standard is expected to be of the utmost quality and Dubbo will be banking on some strong home support to help secure a place in the quarter-finals.
If Dubbo is to win, captain Isaac Skinner will again have to deliver while Hamish Grant is another who has featured prominently this season.
In terms of defence, Jesse Spang will again be important at the back after proving to be one of the side’s most consistent players this season.
In a blow for the Dubbo team, Marty Jeffrey is unavailable as he is currently touring the UK with the NSW CHS cricket side.
