With Fusions Heat starting to put some space between itself and the rest of the competition, there was plenty to play for at the Nita McGrath Courts between the two sides sharing second place.
And it was the Fusions Johnies which emerged victorious in the most thrilling of results.
In a match which went right down to the final whistle, Johnies secured a 32-31 win over St Diamonds to move into outright second on 16 points.
Fusions Heat, a side featuring a mix of experience and youth, kept its unbeaten run going with a strong win over a willing Fusions Giants side.
The Giants never went away but eventually suffered a 64-53 loss.
Fusions Heat now sits on 18 points, with Fusions Johnies keeping up the chase, while St Diamonds are now on 11 points, the same as Fusions Fire.
Fusions Fire enjoyed a convincing win over a battling Macquarie Hornets side which is yet to win a match this season.
The Hornets feature a handful of experienced campaigners helping some younger up-and-comers but they were no match for the Fire, which secured a dominant 50-24 win.
The Narromine Bombers had the bye and remain four points ahead of the Hornets.
The battle of the flame is on next weekend with Fusions Heat taking on Fusions Fire.
