Sing Australia groups from Dubbo, Narromine, Peak Hill, Trangie, Bathurst, Young and Dunedoo teamed up for the occasion on Saturday.
The sounds of ‘Hello Dolly’, ‘The Rose’ and other old and new favourites filled the venue as the 53 keen performers took part.
Sing Australia Dubbo leader Michele Peak said they held a regional gathering two to three times a year so they could experience singing in a big group.
A member for the past seven years, she said music had a great impact on people and singing together allowed them to make social connections.
“You get such a buzz to sing with other people,” she said.
The group that holds no auditions has a celebration coming up.
“Sing Australia Dubbo will have our 15th birthday on May 15, so we’re planning a Mother’s Day special,” Ms Peak said.
Group members will “wear pink and be singing the songs our mothers like” and then enjoy cake.
Ms Peak invited people interested in singing to come along to the birthday session, or any Monday night, at the Dubbo Bridge Club in Bultje Street from 7.30pm.
From duets with mum to performing in Norfolk Island
As a little girl Ms Peak sang with her mother.
She rediscovered the interest after going along to a regular Sing Australia session.
“The first song they sang was The Happy Wanderer,” she said.
“I used to sing that song with my mum in the car and I had never heard of it since I was little.”
Recently she and a fellow member went on a singing tour to Norfolk Island.
“We sang at the dawn service for Anzac Day,” Ms Peak said.
“We had a fantastic time.”
A busy calendar for Sing Australia Dubbo
The group regularly performs at community events, and is a particularly familiar sight and sound at Christmas.
