On Friday the Bureau of Meteorology was predicting rain late in the afternoon and evening.
Its seven-day forecast for the city as of Friday tells of a 70 per cent chance of up to 3 millimetres (mm) of rain falling on Tuesday and an 80 per cent chance of up to 8mm on Wednesday.
Average April rainfall in Dubbo since 1993 is 35.1mm.
On Friday morning the city had received a total of 2mm this month, of which 1.8mm fell in the 24-hour period to 9am April 10.
April 1996 holds the 23-year record for the lowest rainfall for the month in Dubbo.
A mere 0.2mm fell at the automatic weather station at Dubbo City Regional Airport that year.
Rain was erratic across summer with 138.6mm recorded in Dubbo in December, 14.8mm in January and 1.6mm in February. In March the city received 223mm.
