Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR will see some of the city’s youngest aspiring actors take the stage next month.
About 90 young people aged under 21 have journeyed under the sea in recent months, rehearsing for the show.
They’re members of PCYC Drama Club, which started last year with just 10 children and rapidly grew.
Dubbo Theatre Company is presenting the show at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) in association with PCYC Drama Club.
Company director Jo Gibb said Dubbo Theatre Company had been very supportive to the young stars, sponsoring the club’s journey.
Its sponsorship was enabling them to perform for the first time in the DRTCC.
The show stars Sascha Wykes, a Dubbo College Senior Campus student, as Ariel.
She is accompanied by David Woods of Delroy Campus as Prince Eric, Jackson Gibb as Sebastian, Benjamin Wonderley, Pheobe Cusack as Flounder and Tonisha Francis as Ursula.
Gibb has been involved in the Dubbo amature theatre scene for 25 years and is loving being involved in allowing the young people of Dubbo experience theatre.
Tonisha Francis is the eldest in the cast at the age of 21 and has also taken the role of musical director.
Marissa Peterson has been the show’s choreographer.
“The show is going to showcase some amazing young talent, beautiful costumes and fabulous sets which i might add the artwork was also done by Sarah Wonderley who is only 18 years of age,” Gibb said.
The production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR will run for three shows only, May 6 at 2pm and 5pm and May 7 at 2pm.
