The message – the Demons are here to win.
It was the opening contest of 2017 for the Demons, who dominated the visitors from the first bounce of the wholly one-sided affair.
The first quarter saw the Demons strike out to a blistering 5.2.32 to 1.0.6 lead, which they extended in the second quarter with another four goals and three minors.
Cowra managed another goal and one minor – their only behind of the match – to trail by 46 at the main break.
They wouldn’t score again.
Instead, the Demons ran rampant, showing no sign of letting up against an outclassed Cowra outfit to win 16.7.103 to 2.1.13.
Trudy Sloane top-scored with five majors, while Lauren Hazell slotted four goals.
But it was a true team effort, with CWAFL Women’s 2016 best and fairest runner up Jane Winter and debutantes Emily Warner, Alicia Clark, Ebony Mackey and Dominique Marr also contributing to the mammoth total.
Simone Middleton and Danieka Williams slotted one apiece for Cowra.
Sloane, Jules Jarry, Winter and Warner picked up the Demons’ best on ground points, while Brahe-Ashlie Reid was Cowra’s standout.
The win shoots the Demons to the top of the CWAFL Women’s ladder after one round. They will now take a break before heading to Cowra for a rematch on April 22.
