WHEN it comes to spectacular holiday destinations Australians have lots to choose from. Down south is the staggering beauty of Tasmania, while the north champions the rugged unique charm of the Northern Territory.  Western Australia is its own Utopian wonderland for adventurers and pleasure seekers alike. The Eastern seaboard is the gateway to one of our closest neighbours, the fabulous New Zealand.

Time-out in Tasmania

With an area of 68,401 square kilometres Tasmania, is the perfect size to explore in depth. Start your journey in Hobart and continue around this magical island full of rugged wilderness, protected parks and captivating history.

Of course along the way you’ll have a chance to experience Tasmania’s world-class food and wine. Tasmania will constantly treat you with its multitude of breathtaking natural landscapes such as Cradle Mountain, Russell Falls and the Gordon River.

Take Tassie at your own pace, whether that means tasting your way through Launceston or spending big on local produce at the Salamanca Markets. Not to be missed in Hobart is MONA, Museum of Old and New Art, with its cool contemporary edge that has everybody talking.

Wandering around the West

Australia’s biggest state, Western Australia, has some of the country’s absolute must see attractions.

The capital Perth is a great starting point surrounded as it is with sandy beaches and cosmopolitan feel. Perth’s foodie scene continues to expand with plenty of new bars and eateries and the highest concentration of rooftop bars and alfresco food spots taking advantage of the great climate.

Outside the capital, set your eyes upon the breathtaking natural formations such as Wave Rock and the Pinnacles and walk high above the trees at the Valley of the Giants.

Indulge in the fine food and wine, and even chocolate, which the Margaret River region produces all year. Get up close and personal with wild dolphins at Monkey Mia and feed them for yourself.

And the beauty is you won’t need a passport, vaccinations or a favorable exchange rate.

Outback Odysseys

The Northern Territory gives you the opportunity to experience some of Australia’s most incredible natural wonders.

Take in all the bucket list sights of Uluru, Kata Tjuta, the Devil’s Marbles as well as world-heritage listed Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks.

You’ll be amazed at the diversity and contrast of the landscape as you travel from the Red Centre to Darwin in the Top End, the northern most capital city of Australia.

A visit to the NT wouldn’t be complete without immersing yourself in the stories, artworks and ancient traditions of indigenous Australians.

One of Top End’s best-kept secrets is the Tiwi Islands which can be easily reached by ferry or scenic flight from Darwin. A day tour of the Tiwi Islands uncovers life and traditions in a modern day Aboriginal community.

Voted as one of the top 100 things to do before you die by Australian Traveller in 2011, this is a must do!
