There was little doubt about the result when play began, with the Hornets resuming at 0-158 in reply to Rugby’s total of 185.
Captain Mitch Bower missed day two of the match and was unable to add to his total of 77 while Will Lindsay was only able to add 11 more runs before following Greg Rummans (2) back to the pavilion.
James Duffy (0) became Blake Watmore’s third victim of the day but Henry Railz (4 not out) joined Mark O’Donnell (8 not out) to help last season’s runners-up get the job done.
After taking 0-31 from four overs last week, it was a vastly improved effort from youngster Watmore on Saturday as he took 3-7 from five overs to take some positives out of the defeat.
Next up for the Hornets is a clash with fellow round one winners Macquarie.
