As part of BOOMDubbo, Mr Adnate is painting a six-metre tall mural of Pearl Gibbs, a passionate Aboriginal activist, and a young child who symbolised a positive future.
He started work on Monday and said he was 25 per cent finished by Tuesday morning. Weather permitting, he was expecting to have the work completed by Friday.
The Melbourne-born artist started in graffiti but said the move into portraiture had really lifted his career. He was used to working on a grand scale, with some of his works four times as high as the Dubbo location.
Project manager Kim Goldsmith said BOOMDubbo had worked with a number of parties including the Dubbo Aboriginal Working Party and Dubbo Regional Council to choose the wall’s subject and design.
The artwork was jointly funded by BOOMDubbo and Dubbo Regional Council’s Ignite program.
