The recent announcement the George Hatch building, previously the home of trainee nurses, would be demolished as part of the hospital's redevelopment has prompted nursing alumni to organise the reunion event for August 6, 2016.
Organisers are among the Dubbo Base Hospital Graduate Nurses Group who meet on the first Saturday of every second month for lunch, friendship and to remember old times.
They were pleased the hospital had allowed them to use the old building for the reunion.
It is 50 years since a nurses training school was started at Dubbo Base Hospital. Prior to that, nurses started their training by being initiated straight onto the wards.
Nurse training at Dubbo Base Hospital ceased in the mid-1980s and nurses were now trained through universities.
George Hatch was the first nurse educator at Dubbo Base Hospital and remained in the position for the next three decades.
Graduate nurses were also keen to see a significant area named after Mr Hatch in the new redevelopment.
Organisers of the reunion have extended an invitation to the hundreds of nurses who graduated from Dubbo Base Hospital to attend the reunion, and have asked them to pass the message on to their fellow trainees.
Those seeking more information about the reunion could contact Sue on 0438 845 225 or Jenny on 0419 480 259.
