Cameron was one of 34 local athletes who took part in the carnival, which was hosted by Dubbo's world-class DCL Park facility on the weekend.
Roughly 600 athletes were in action and the local Dubbo Athletics Club scored one gold medal with Cameron taking out the under-17s division.
The weekend was a gruelling one for Cameron and all those involved, with the under-17s competing in seven different events.
Points were awarded for performances in each event and those scores were then added up at the end of the weekend to decide the overall winner.
Cameron performed well in each of the events she contested but her best results were her wins in the long jump, high jump and 200m.
She also finished second in the hurdles and third in the 800m to help seal the gold medal.
"We only had one medal for the weekend and it was gold," Dubbo Athletics president David Williams said.
“She (Cameron) went well in the hurdles, which is definitely not her event, but she got a reasonable place and across the board she performed well.”
Despite numbers being a little lower than previous carnivals Williams was pleased with the turnout and the performances on the track.
Rising star Ella Penman was another of the 34 local athletes who impressed, with the young gun smashing her personal best in the under-10s 800m by more than five seconds while she also recorded a personal best in the 200m.
Kempsey’s Lachlan Davidson was a standout winner in the boys under-17s while Dubbo foursome Brianna Trappett, Gemma Harley, Alex Couley and Claudia Bruce all recorded top 15 finishes in the girls under-15s.
Ollie Keegan was another of the western region’s winners with the Orange-based athlete claiming gold in the under-13 boys division thanks to his outstanding consistency.
Keegan finished in the top three in five of his six events with his worst result coming in the hurdles, where he finished equal fifth.
Other notable results included Dubbo’s Hunter Longhurst finishing sixth in the under-12 boys while fellow local athlete Millie Gooch was eighth in the under-12 girls.
Gilgandra’s Rani Diggs was another to impress as she took out the under-11 girls competition.
As well as the standout performances on the track and in the field, the Barden Park facility itself was a huge hit, according to Williams.
“There were a lot of people, particularly the officials and the safety officer the day had high praise for us,” he said.
“Lots of people turn up not knowing what to expect and then they say ‘wow’ and it blows them away.
“I was talking to a mother from Ku-ring-gai and they’re a big club with about 600 members and she was blown away and couldn’t believe our facilities.”
The local club’s attention now turns to the Club Championships, which begin this week.
