The Class Clowns workshop is aimed to demonstrate the benefits of comedy writing and performing, which can be a great outlet for people dealing with personal issues.
Headspace Dubbo clinical leader Annie Hartley thought the day was fantastic for all involved.
"The kids loved it, as soon as they started doing activities the room was full of laughter," Ms Hartley said.
"Most didn't know each other but they are making friends and are happy getting up in front of each other without hesitation.
"We did a staff version of the workshop this morning and its fair to say some people were a bit apprehensive.
"But doing something different and getting out of your comfort zone gives a real boost to your confidence."
Cassie Shadwell, who is in Year 8 at Macquarie Anglican Grammar School, enjoyed the day.
"Getting to know everyone, learning new improvisation games and having some new experiences are the highlights for me," Cassie said.
"This isn't something I usually do but it has been good to get out of my comfort zone."
