The X-Factor runner-up from Narromine, originally from Albert, will release the single on August 29.
This is ahead of his second album "Friday Night" set for release in February.
The sound of his album combines the love of his two favourite genres, rock and roll and country.
Mr Owen sports a new look, a feeling of 60's cool with a spot of facial hair.
He wants to stress to his fans that he has evolved from the X-Factor experience and wants to spread his musical wings.
"I've grown as a person, an artist and a live performer and now know what it really takes putting your heart and soul, blood sweat and tears into what you love," Mr Owen said.
"I'm really excited to release the new single, it's got a cool vibe and a great sound.
"Our goal is to get Damn Right somewhere in the 40 top; hopefully people like it."
Mr Owen is currently on a 5 week East Coast roadtrip to support the single's release.
The Central West will always be home for Mr Owen, he said it provides an excellent place to "let go" and get in touch with his fans.
