DUBBO Macquarie may be sitting atop the Group 11 ladder with a perfect record after four rounds but their 2014 campaign has been thrown into turmoil with captain-coach John Grey sensationally walking away from his duties on Wednesday night.

Grey tendered his resignation after a series of demands he made in a letter couldn't be guaranteed by the club's executive committee.
The letter outlined five non-negotiable demands including that he, as head coach of the club's first grade side, would:
o Construct and implement training sessions.
o Receive input from the club, through president Mark Meredith, regarding first grade team selections but ultimately make any final decisions.
o Be the first point of contact if any issues were raised directly or indirectly about any senior or first grade players
The other two obligations he wanted from the club were that first grade game day interchanges be completed by either Meredith, reserve grade coach Dave Daley or under-18s coach 'Chicka' Merritt, and that the club's current retention committee remain in charge of any further recruitment of players in 2014.
The matter came to a head following weeks of rumblings about the club culminated in a meeting between Grey and Meredith last Friday, and a meeting between Grey and a senior first grade player the previous day which outlined concerns from all parties.
The Raiders are set to face Wellington in their round five clash at Kennard Park tonight with their coaching future in limbo.
After last Saturday night's win over CYMS, Grey ushered out all non-players from the dressing shed and spoke to the playing group only, and further discussions with the players were held on Tuesday night ahead of Wednesday night's committee meeting which ultimately ended his two-and-a-quarter season involvement with the club.
"Some issues were raised and brought to my attention about people with no official involvement with the club questioning decisions and the way things get done and it came to a head because, to my eye, too many people were getting involved behind the scenes," Grey said.
"The way I saw it I was employed to do a job and I wanted control over that job. I'm happy to listen to opinions from people within the club but I believe ultimately those final decisions should rest with the first grade coach.
"Ultimately the buck stops with the coach and I wanted things to be transparent. I don't think it was unreasonable to have those points from the letter put in place.
"The disappointing thing is I didn't see this coming really. We've had a ripper pre-season and we've been winning but I don't think I could do my job properly if there were influences that aren't involved officially with the club trying to undermine things.
"I had the support of the players but not the committee in the end. Those boys have busted themselves to be in this position and I hope they stick at it and keep having some success."
Adding to the situation is the fact Grey's wife Cara had assumed the role of club treasurer, with that position now untenable
Asked for a comment on behalf of the Raiders, Meredith said he was sad to see Grey leave the club.
The former Narromine junior helped Macquarie to the 2012 premiership as a player before stepping up into the coaching role last year.
"As a club we wish John, Cara and their family all the best for the future. It's certainly disappointing this has happened," Meredith said.
"John is one of the most professional, dedicated people I've come across but his way of wanting to control things, which were very much non-negotiable, was different to the way the club has run.
"It was quite apparent that no compromise could be met.
"This has all happened so quickly but we have a game on Friday night to worry about. We'll gather ourselves and get on with the rest of 2014. Zac Rennick will be captain of the side on Friday and that will give us a chance to sort out some sort of caretaker set-up going forward."
Due to the sudden nature of the falling out, Grey admitted he is unsure whether he will play out 2014 with another Group 11 club but admitted there had already been some interest from rival clubs.
