TRIES to Andrew Fifita, Daniel Tupou and Will Hopoate in the final five minutes helped City Origin snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat in today's Country-City clash at Apex Oval.
On the back of two first-half tries to David Mead and a barnstorming second-half performance from centre Jamal Idris the boys from the bush established a 26-10 lead with just minutes remaining.
But with all hope seemingly gone, City started to play razzle-dazzle football and it paid off as the ball passed through 10 sets of hands before Andrew Fifita scored out wide.
The conversion made it 26-16 and when Daniel Tupou stayed millimetres inside the sideline to plant the ball for his second brilliant try of the day it was game on with a minute to go and the margin six points.
Centre Dylan Walker made a bust from the kick off which took City downfield and three plays later Will Hopoate found a gap in the Country defence to touch down and bring the score to 26-24.
Adam Reynolds nailed the conversion after the siren to earn City a draw.
Nick Guthrie's full report on the match will appear in tomorrow's edition of the Daily Liberal
