The 'Gospel Church Service' at the NSW TrainLink Parkes Elvis Festival has evolved over the last 12 years and is now one of the highlights of the Festival.
The service will be held on Sunday, January 12, at 8:30am.
Those that arrive early will enjoy local talent entertaining from 7.30am.
The service will once again take place in the undercover Big W carpark, having outgrown its original home at the Uniting Church.
This special non-denominational church service is a festival highlight and is expected to attract thousands of festival goers.
The service has a 21st century focus complete with singing, dancing, music, digital projections and images.
It celebrates the music of Elvis and explores the man that he was and how that man was shaped by his faith and love of gospel music.
From an early congregation of 40 participants nearly 3000 people now flock to this festival event.
Contributors to this year's service include the highly acclaimed Uniting Church Band and ever popular ‘Gospel Quartet’, the Keno Festival Feature Artist Mark Andrew, selected Elvis Tribute Artists and a host of local talent.
The program is always enhanced by performances by Roydon Donohue and David Gouldson.
This year for the first time they will be joined by Steve Kelleher and Gavin Chatelier.
Organisers of the service, the Uniting Church Welcome Congregation invites everyone to attend and enjoy.
Arrive early and bring a chair as available seating will usually fill early.
Space is provided for people to bring their own seats.
Generous donations in past years have meant that the Gospel Service is a central provider of funds to a child support program in East Timor called Kids Ark.
In past years the financial aid was used to provide materials for voluntary teams to establish a clean water supply, build classrooms, and the provision of medical supplies and uniforms for the children.
There will be opportunity during the service to again give to this amazing ministry.
The Welcome Congregation has also invited everyone to join them for morning tea after the service.
