Elvis fans have almost booked out Forbes accommodation for the 2014 NSW Trainlink Parkes Elvis Festival.
Many festival attendees are starting to arrive in Forbes and Forbes Shire Council’s marketing manager Sarah White said the festival, despite being in Parkes, was a great economic boost for Forbes.
“Accommodation books out over there very quickly and people also like to come over and stay in Forbes,” Ms White said.
“The festival brings a great vibe to Forbes and this year we are having an Elvis event for fans and locals.”
This Saturday a double feature film night will be held by the lake at Forbes Rugby Club.
The event, Elvis on the Lake, will feature the films Kissin’ Cousins and Blue Hawaii.
There will be a best dressed Elvis competition and Elvis impersonators are encouraged to perform during the interval of the two films.
Ms White said there would be some great prizes up for grabs.
The movie screening starts at 8pm with food available for purchase from Forbes Rotary and beverages through Forbes Rugby Club.
There will also be movie snacks including popcorn, lollies and chocolates available.
Pre-ticket sales are $15 and tickets can also be bought on the night.
To secure your ticket, contact council on 6850 2300.
Those who are attending are encouraged to bring their own picnic rugs or chairs.
