I ruined two tankinis before I finally bought maternity bathers during my third pregnancy. You may ask why I didn’t get in to maternity swimwear sooner. Looking back, the main reason was range – seven years ago, the choice of swimwear available for expectant mothers was nothing like the stylish (and well designed) range that can be found today. Leader of the pack is glamorous Spanish label Pez D’Or.

Pez D’Or swimsuits have all sorts of design features to accomodate growing bellies (or shrinking bellies, post baby!). Flattering halter necks, rouched tankini tops (fitted where it counts and free-flowing over your bump) and bikini bottoms with adjustable side ties.
And with all that comes style – I always go for basic black and the Pez D’Or Cannes one-piece is simple and flattering but I must admit the eighties surfie-chick charm of the Mundaka design caught my eye – bright, beachy colours and the option of three pieces makes it a maternity winner (shown below).
Prices range from $95.95 to $147. Pez D’Or is available in Australia at Beach Maternity.
