The opening pair combined for 127 runs before Buckley was bowled by John Colwell in the 12th over with the score on 127.
That brought Josh Wells to the crease and he did a good job of farming the strike to Smith, who belted seven boundaries and the same number of sixes in his innings before falling to Asher Robins in the 18th over.
Wes Giddings belted a quick fire 20 before being stumped off the bowling of James Duffy, leaving Wells (16no) and Jason Ryan (4no) to finish the innings.
Colts eventually made 3-217 which is the highest total made so far in the McDonald's Megahit.
Despite having a big total on the board Colts would have known the previous high score, 214, had been set by Garden Hotel just a couple of weeks prior and their hitting power was on display early.
Shane Groen and Toby Morgan opened their shoulders early, piling on 70 runs in the first six overs before Morgan was stumped off the bowling of Sam Campbell for 38.
Matt Finlay came and went quickly before Groen was caught a short while later off the bowling of Wells for 39.
With John Colwell and Tim Berry at the crease Garden was still in contention even though they were needing close to 11 runs an over and for a while it appeared as though they were in with a chance.
Colwell did most of the damage in a 34-run partnership with Berry before the latter was caught on the boundary off the bowling of Buckley.
Colwell continued his onslaught, clearing the boundary on four occasions including one blast which collected a car panel down the grandstand end of the ground.
The 'Master Blaster' even pulled out the reverse sweep at one stage but then he fell for 50 with the score at 6/150 it sparked the beginning of the end for Garden Hotel, who were eventually bowled out for just 179.
Buckley finished with 4-24 off four overs to go with his earlier efforts with the bat.
