Shot fired into Sydney pub as patrons drink

A number of drinkers were inside a Parramatta pub when a gunman carried out a drive-by shooting overnight, police say.

Police were called to the Albion Hotel after multiple shots were fired into the front windows of the George Street pub about 2.45am.

The pub was trading at the time, and staff and patrons took cover. Police said no-one was injured.

A white car believed to have been used in the drive-by shooting was found abandoned in nearby Tramway Street. It will also undergo scientific examination.

Police said a number of spent bullet casings were also seized as evidence.

The Albion Hotel was targeted on July 13 last year in another shooting that has been linked to the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang.

In that shooting, a number of shots fired towards security officers. No-one was injured.

The Albion Hotel was cordoned off on Friday morning and forensic police are examining the pub.

They will be assisted by officers attached to Operation Apollo, established this month to target gun and organised crime.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
