The two girls were born in their parents house at 40 McLeay street and twins were not expected.
Greta's daughter, Virginia Brown said the doctor had been called, but fortunately there was a midwife who lived down the street who helped with the delivery. When Greta married, she and her husband built in High Street while Judy when she married moved into a house in Crown Street.
"They've lived all their life about three doors apart," Virginia said.
She said her grandparents had only one baby's bottle and two teats when the twins arrived.
"They had to sterilise the sauce bottle so they had a second bottle," she said. Greta and Judith's family are planning a celebration at the one7eight Restaurant tomorrow night.
