DUBBO turned out in droves for a night under the stars at Lazy River Estate with film, music and literature in a perfect setting along the banks of the Macquarie River.

The 2013 Optus Flix in the Stix "ran like clockwork" on Friday night at the well-known winery, attracting more than 1200 people with picnic baskets and rugs in tow.
Lazy River Estate owner Peter Scott said the event had a great family atmosphere with no trouble and perfect weather.
"It was an event Dubbo had been looking for with plenty of entertainment that made you laugh and cry," he said.
"Lazy River put a lot of work into it and it's an event that should stand the test of time."
Mr Scott said there were no problems with parking, alcohol or rubbish at the winery, and it was a well-organised event.
“At one point I walked past a toddler who told his mother he had made a friend at Flix, and that was great to hear because it’s an event that is well supported by the Dubbo community... it was nice for us to be involved and we can’t wait to do it again next year,” he said.
Last year Flix in the Stix was declared a “wash-out” and subsequently moved to the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) out of the wet weather.
It met a similar fate at Orange on Saturday night, with patrons sent home earlier than expected due to rain and lightning shortly before the short films were to screen.
A new date for the postponed event will be announced this week.
Lovers of the arts were spoilt for choice at Dubbo on the weekend, with the opening of the DRTCC’s 2013 season on Saturday night.
Violin virtuoso Ian Cooper had an audience of 450 people clapping along as he blitzed through The Music of Andre Rieu Spectacular.
