That was the opinion of one American woman who became a true blue Aussie during the weekend.
Jaime Pulling-Allen was one of the 19 residents who became Australian citizens on Saturday at the Australia Day celebrations in Victoria Park.
From Michigan, United States of America, she came in 2002 as part of her university culture expansion program with a semester abroad and fell in love with the city.
"I thought everyone was welcoming and friendly," she said.
"I grew up in a rural town in the US so I had no problems coming up here."
In 2008, she moved to Dubbo and in September 2011 she found the love of her life and married at the Dubbo Courthouse.
Mrs Pulling-Allen, a midwife at the Dubbo Base Hospital said she was excited to finally become an Australian citizen.
"This is the place where I live now, so I feel life I can have a voice on issues, vote and become active in the community," she said.
The Daily Liberal asked whether she preferred to live in the United States of America or in Australia.
"I love living here because people are more laid back here, but I wish my family was here with me," she said.
"We have everything we need in Dubbo without the hustle and bustle and a beautiful countryside."
