Dubbo MP?Troy Grant presented the cheque at the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre yesterday.
"Seniors are a sector of our community that are far too often ignored," he said.
"They have a wealth of experience and wisdom which would go a long way to solve some of our current day problems."
Mr Grant said the cheque would enable community organisations to celebrate without the added pressure of fundraising.
The money was a "good investment" to recognise the role seniors played in the community.
Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre manager Debbie Todkill thanked Mr Grant for the funding, which would go towards organising NSW Seniors Week in March.
"It will help us to provide a bigger and better expo for the seniors," she said.
"The money will go a long way."
Mrs Todkill said the expo would be held at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre this year and promised seniors it would be a week full of fun.
The Dubbo Bicycle Users group also received $500 to run their seniors discovery bike ride.
